The R.A.O.B. is a fraternal and benevolent organisation which involves itself in local communities. Members gather regularly in pleasant surroundings and enjoy the company of like minded people. Most of our efforts are directed towards local good causes though we do venture further afield in our charitable work from time to time.
Our Province, known as the Chorley & Blackburn Province since the merger of Blackburn Province and Chorley Province in 2004, has Lodges in Chorley, Leyland, Accrington and Blackburn and we are justly proud of the efforts of our Lodges and their Members.
The R.A.O.B. is split into a number of 'banners', or 'Grand Lodges', spread throughout the world, although every indication is that the order was founded in England in the 19th Century. Our banner is called the Grand Lodge of England but we have Lodges in many countries, particularly in those areas where the British Forces have been stationed.
More detailed information about the structure and history of our Order can be found by following the G.L.E. link on our menu.
