Brother Hughie was initiated into the Leyland Lodge in March 1969. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Hughie took a break from the Buffs, returning in the 80's into the Crown Lodge who raised him to the 2nd Degree on 10th May, 1990.

He was raised to the 3rd Degree by the Leyland Lodge on 20th June 1993 and to the 4th Degree on 6th December,1998.

Bro. Hughie has served on the various committees of PGL until he became PGP in 1995 as well as president of the Examining Council and later President of the Chorley Knights Chapter. He was elected to President of the Roll of honour Assembly for 2005.

Brother Hughie served as PG Trustee from 1997 to 2003.

Brother Hughie enjoys visiting other Lodges and is well known throughout the area, as well as in many other Provinces, for his easy going nature.
